Is there a way to pull only posts from a certain category and the text everything before a break post link, then link out to those articles?

I'm not sure BlogEngine can be extended in this way, but I have seen it possible to add jQuery and several tutorials on that.
This would require only posts in a certain category, because they would be formatted to work with this feature slider carousel of sorts.

Has anyone seen anything like this being done in BE, I know I saw some discussion at the official codeplex forums of someone trying to use the S3 slider, that would do in a pinch.
